Description
Yaquina Bay Light's Whale oil lamp was first lite in November of 1871, but due to bureaucratic bungle the light was replaced by Yakina Head Lighthouse just three miles from this location. Yaquina Bay Light was extinguished in October of 1874. The shortest term of active service of any lighthouse. Yaquina Bay Light is now a fine museum open during the summer months. There are wonderful stories of how this house is haunted by a guest who disappeared without a trace in the 1930's.

I love old lighthouses and the great description. Is that the ghost at the front door? ;)
Sharon Elliott replied:
That is a good question about the ghost at the door.....fun thought. Thank you for visiting.
