Description
Gibbon Falls is along the drive from the Old Faithful area of Yellowstone National Park to the Norris area of North Yellowstone. This ride along the Gibbon Canyon is a beatuiful drive that takes you past the Beryl Spring area and Artist's Paint Pots Trail. The Gibbon River cuts it's way through what was a massive lava flow of Rhyolit and welded ash. At this point the river takes an 84-foot tumble, forming this spectacular scene; Gibbon Falls.
This water actually falls over the rim of the Yellowstone Caldera; the rock wall on the other side of the road is a portion of the caldera's inner rim, it's formation dating back 640,000 years.

Beautiful falls, I don't recall seeing this on my trips to Yellowstone. Then again our guide is a fly fishing nut so it must not be a good fishing spot! v

That must be it.....I know almost ZERO about fly fishing....but what I recall from what I have seen....it hasn't happened near falls. What do I know??? Thanks for visit and vote. SE
