Description
Umpqua River Light that now stands, was completed in 1894 in Winchester Bay, in the Umpqua State Park. It's sixty-five foot tower is crowned with a powerful, first-order Fresnel lens, which can be seen from twenty-one miles away. Only four years after it's completion of the original tower in 1857 , the foundation was undercut by floods and surf, and the tower collapsed into the river.
Umpqua River Light is surrounded by acres of sand dunes in this area of the Oregon coast. Just one of many beautiful Lighthouses along the Oregon Coast as you travel Highway 101.

Beautiful lighthouse. I love the capture of the contrasting white building against the blue sky. The captures of the reflecting sun gives this image that little extra something. v
